This workshop provides a snapshot to introduce participants to the topics of hoarding and squalor to strengthen understanding and assist service providers as they begin to plan how they may respond to people affected by hoarding and squalor.

Participants will receive resources to assist with further planning.

Who should attend

People from services and organisations starting to support people affected by hoarding and squalor, including those with a personal interest but limited knowledge. Family members and friends affected by hoarding and squalid living situations may attend.

This training workshop explores the nature of hoarding and squalor and outlines case management strategies to effectively support people to address issues associated with hoarding and/or squalor.

The workshop will explore:

  • What is hoarding and squalor?
  • Public Policy, the Law and the Media
  • The case management response to hoarding and squalor
  • •Other key issues to support providers and case managers

The training will include group activities and discussions. Participants will receive a comprehensive training manual. Training can also be tailored to meet the needs of the target audience.

Who should attend

Service providers, government agencies, local councils, professionals, students, relatives of hoarders or anyone with a personal interest in learning more about hoarding and squalor.
